Organizing your library

Long-press any cover to open its menu; in list rows, the ⋮ button opens the same menu. It is the same everywhere in the app: read the comic, Add to Favorites, Organize in categories, the series it belongs to, Mark as read or Mark as unread, and Remove from library. A plain tap on a cover opens the comic’s details.

ComicDrive groups the issues of a series together on its own. Open a series to see its issues in order.

When the grouping is wrong, open the series and use its ⋮ menu:

  • Rename series gives it the name you want.
  • Add issues puts comics from your library into this series.
  • Merge series joins another series into this one, for example when the same series was split by a different spelling.
  • Split series moves the issues you choose into a new series.
  • Restore automatic detection undoes all of your changes to that series: name, order, cover and corrections.

Remove from series, in an issue’s menu, keeps the issue in your library as a standalone comic.

To change the order, tap Sort under Issues and choose Issue number, Title, Date added or Publication date, and Reversed to turn it around. Reorder issues… in the same menu lets you move single issues by hand.

A comic’s cover is its first page unless you choose otherwise. A comic from an OPDS catalog usually shows the catalog’s own picture instead, which the reader calls Automatic. To use another page, open that page in the reader, open Layout, and under Cover choose the current page; First page makes page one the cover. In a series, Use as series cover in an issue’s menu picks the cover for the whole series.

Categories are your own shelves, for example “To read” or “Westerns”. A comic can be in several of them.

  • Choose Organize in categories in a comic’s menu, or in a series’ menu to sort the whole series at once. You can create a new category right there.
  • Manage categories lets you rename or delete categories. Deleting a category never deletes the comics in it.

Add to Favorites puts a comic on the Favorites list on the Start screen.

In the library, a folder or a category, tap the checklist button at the top (Select comics); in a series, choose Select issues from its ⋮ menu. Then pick the comics you want and mark them read or unread together. Two shortcuts help with long lists:

  • Long-press a comic while selecting to select everything from the comic you picked last up to that one. Without the gesture, pick the first and the last comic and choose Select range from the selection bar’s ⋮ menu.
  • Select all picks every comic in view.

To catch up on a series quickly, long-press an issue: its menu offers to mark every earlier issue of the series as read in one step.

A finished comic always says “Read” under its title. Settings › Library › Mark read comics decides what its cover shows on top of that:

  • Check mark adds a blue check to the cover.
  • Grayed-out cover shows the cover in gray.
  • Text only leaves the cover as it is.

A series you have read completely is marked the same way, on every shelf and list.

Remove from library takes a comic out of your library. Its reading progress and bookmarks are kept, and the file itself is never changed or deleted.

To bring a comic back, open Settings › Library › Removed comics and choose Add back to library.

Opening the comic again brings it back too: tap the + button on the Start screen and choose Open single comic file, open the file from another app, or open it again in its OPDS catalog. Rescanning its folder does not bring it back, so a comic you removed stays removed. New in 3.06
