Device folders and SD card

  1. On the Start screen, tap the + button and choose Add local or cloud folder.

  2. Android’s folder picker opens. Go to the folder that holds your comics, on the phone’s storage or on the SD card.

  3. Confirm the folder with the picker’s own button and allow access when Android asks.

ComicDrive scans the folder and adds the comics it finds to your library.

ComicDrive reads a folder together with all its subfolders, so adding the top folder of your collection is enough. There is no need to add each series folder on its own.

When you add comics, move them, or sort them into new folders, tap the ⋮ button on that folder’s row on the Start screen and choose Rescan Folder. A rescan finds new, changed and removed comics.

A rescan stops on purpose in two situations, and in both nothing in your library changes:

  • ComicDrive can’t read the folder, for example because the SD card is not inserted. Check that the storage is connected and that ComicDrive still has access, then try again.
  • The folder looks empty. If you really removed those comics, remove the folder from the library instead.

Comics on the card can’t be opened while it is out. Put the card back in; ComicDrive keeps its access to the folder, so nothing needs to be reconnected unless the Start screen asks for it. Don’t remove those comics from the library in the meantime: removing a comic also removes its reading progress.

Access lost after a reinstall or a new phone

Section titled “Access lost after a reinstall or a new phone”

After reinstalling the app, or after restoring a backup on a new phone, Android no longer lets ComicDrive into the folder. The Start screen then marks the folder as needing to be reconnected. Tap Reconnect folder and pick the same folder again; your reading progress stays.

If a comic says so while you open it, see “Source no longer available”.
