Gestures and controls

Some things in ComicDrive have no button of their own. They are listed here, and in the app under Settings › Controls › Tips & gestures. Pinching to zoom, swiping between pages and Android’s Back gesture work as everywhere else and are not repeated here.

Opens the comic’s menu, the same everywhere: read, favorites, categories, series, mark as read or unread, remove from library. A plain tap opens the comic’s details. In list rows, the ⋮ button opens the same menu.

Selects every comic from the one you picked last up to the one you press. Without the gesture, pick the first and the last comic, then choose Select range in the selection bar’s ⋮ menu.

Shows and hides the reader’s controls. They are also shown when a comic opens.

Zooms in; a second double-tap zooms back out. With Settings › Controls › Double-tap panning on, the next double-taps walk across the zoomed page instead and turn to the next page after the last step. Pinching works too. In panel reading a double-tap counts as two taps on the edge, so there you pinch to look closer and drag to look around.

Offers the next issue, the series, or the way back to the library, and Stay here. On the last page a chip appears as well; one tap on it goes straight to the next issue, or back to the series or the library when there is none.

With Settings › Controls › Tap navigation on, the left and right thirds of the screen turn the page and the middle shows the controls. The side that goes forward follows the reading direction; in webtoon mode the three zones run from top to bottom.

With Settings › Controls › Volume button navigation on, the volume keys turn the pages, for reading one-handed. In panel reading they step through the panels.

With Panels on, the right edge shows the next panel and the left edge the previous one, the other way round in a right-to-left comic. The middle shows the controls, and a swipe turns the page. There is no on-screen button for stepping through panels; the reader guide shows the zones the first time you switch panel reading on, and Show reader guide in the Layout sheet brings it back. With TalkBack, a double-tap on the page goes to the next panel and Previous panel is available as an action.

On a zoomed panel, drag first to look around the page; at its left or right edge, a sideways swipe turns the page. See Panel reading.
